  • Travelling & pursuing studies overseas for a different profession after abandoning sea life.
  • Seaman (Marine Engineering), Libyan Govt. Sea-Fishing Company, Tripoli & Benghazi, 1977-80.
  • Seaman (Marine Engineering), Japanese Shrimp Research Vessel, Chittagong, Bangladesh, 1977 (just for a few months as the overseas job offer in Libya was taken).

Education:

  • Graduated in Marine (Industrial) Engineering, 1975-77, a very intensive academic course given by Russian Experts at Marine Fisheries Academy, Chittagong, Bangladesh.
  • Studying French language and literature, Institut de phonétiques de l’Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium, 1984-87.
  • Earned Master’s degree in Industrial Location & Development, (two-year programme) 1988-90, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium.
  • Human Ecology, a Master’s course, 1989-90 (incomplete), pursued the course simultaneously with the Master’s in Industrial Location & Development programme in order to enrich its thesis entitled “Economic and Ecological Impact of Tropical Deforestation”, VUB, Belgium. 
  • Management Programme, 1991-92, 2nd Master’s degree, VUB, Belgium.
  • Graduated with honours in Business Economics and minored in Computer Information Systems from Vesalius College of VUB, 1994-98 (four years), to earn a foreign Bachelor’s degree from a prestigious institution in Europe.

Extra curriculum:

  • Summer course at Sophia University, Tokyo, focused on Japanese Management, 1991.
  • One semester at the University of Sydney, Australia, taught on Economics & Commerce programme, 1999.
